UEA/UPPA Staywell Committee Meeting

4:15 – 5:15 P.M.

 

Attending:

 

• Go Red for Healthy Hearts (2/3)

• several schools sent photos of their staff wearing red
• photos were posted on UEA Staywell Facebook
• Grants, up to $25, were awarded to:

            Cara Parker and Theresa Whitenight (Dresden), Denise Bailey & Laura Laban         (Ebeling), DeKeyser Running Club, Antonella Piccirilli (Oakbrook), Christie   Petras (Roberts), Melissa Gronzo (Burr)

• Provide more advance notice for grants next year.

- Total:  $125.00 was awarded

 

• Mission Statement Revision Adopted

“ The mission of our UEA Staywell Committee is to encourage and support the ‘Wellness Journeys’ of all UEA/UPPA members and the students and families they serve.”

 

• Freeze Your Franny – January 28, 2012

• 1.050 runners/walkers participated
• $2,500 donated to the American Cancer Society – Relay for Life of Shelby Twp.
• Nancy Smith and Bob Busquart (Hansons Timing) met with Gary Hopp, Stony Metropark to “debrief” for next year’s event
• Provide photographs to media/photographer
• Doggy costume/winter wardrobe contest
• Starting on the road next year. 
• Bib tags??  More accurate timings.  Personalized bibs.
• Age groups…  5 years… Add more age divisions…

 

• Budget update

• April 1, 2012 is the deadline to submit receipts for 2011/2012 Wellness Grants
• There are still some grant recipients who have not submitted.  A reminder email will be sent to them during the week of March 5.

 

• UEA Staywell Challenge – February 27 – March 25
• program dates between Winter Break and Spring Break has been favorably received
• Total Schools participating – 23
• Total Teams – 77
• Total participants – 232
• Recipe thread suggestion
• Post healthy recipes on Facebook page.
